Yvette Nicole Brown has a secret weapon. But we’re not going to keep it a secret anymore. Because last week, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to Jim Crow the voter rolls, ruling that Donald Trump could make up the list of citizens who can vote. Think about that.
America does not have a list of citizens — so Trump wants to make one up. Like a Satanic Santa, Trump’s making a list and checking it twice, finding out whose naughty or MAGA. Who gets to vote.
I remember Martin Luther King at the signing of the Voting Rights Act just after the murders of voting rights activists on the Selma to Montgomery March. We simply could not imagine that Jim Crow would rise from the grave to sit behind the Oval Office desk.
But Yvette Nicole Brown has a weapon that will put Old Jim Crow back in his grave, and she’s not afraid to use it. I’ll let Ms. Brown explain…
Down here, we know the dead don’t always stay buried. We put Jim Crow in the ground back in ‘65 when we won the Voting Rights Act. Said a prayer over him, thought that was the end of him.
But someone’s been digging, scratching under the courthouse floorboards. And now, he’s resurrected. Only he’s not wearing his white sheets, he’s wearing spreadsheets.
Instead of a hanging rope, he’s got an algorithm for the lynching by laptop of four million voters of color, with names like Jackson, García, Kim and Brown. Names given to people who were captured, conquered, sold.
So, what are you going to do about it?
I‘m going to start with this little light of mine. I’m going to let it shine on Old Jim Crow, drag him back into his grave, and drive a stake through his heart.
